Obituary of Francis W. Kelly
Francis W. Kelly, 95, of Marcellus passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016. Frank was a life resident of Marcellus. He was a 1939 graduate of Marcellus Central School and attended University College. Frank worked many years for the Hartford Insurance Co., Borden, Inc. and retired from Agway, Inc., where he worked as an auditor supervisor, retiring in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, Marcellus. His wife of 61years, Doris Sturtze Kelly, died in 2011.
Frank was an Army Veteran of WWII, and a member and past commander of the Marcellus American Legion Ralph Share Post 297. In 2013 he was honored as one of the Grand Marshals of the Marcellus Olde Home Days Parade, representing the Marcellus American Legion Post.
Frank was a past member and past president of the Marcellus Rotary Club. He enjoyed many years as a member of Tuscarora Golf Club, playing in the 18 Hole League and the ORBS. In 1986, Frank and his wife, Doris, were the original coordinators of the Marcellus Ecumenical Food Pantry. He volunteered for 10 years at Van Duyn Home & Hospital.
Surviving Frank are two sons Kevin (Kerry) Kelly of Northville, MI and Jeffrey (Nancy) Kelly of Madison, WI; four grandchildren Eric Kelly of Chicago, IL, Alison (Joseph) Agate of Chicago, IL and Jessica (Matt) Paschen of Twelve Mile, IN, Paul Kelly of Madison, WI; and two sisters Kathryn Kelly of Marcellus and Nancy Barreca of Solvay.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7pm Wednesday, April 27, with an American Legion Service to follow at 7pm, both held at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Thursday in St. Francis Xavier Church. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
