Obituary of R. Michael Lollis

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of R. Michael "Mike/Mickey" Lollis, 72, of Marcellus, NY, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 who faced a brief but brave battle with leukemia. A lifelong resident of Marcellus, he graduated from Marcellus High School in 1971 and received his Associate's Degree at Auburn Community College. His warmth, humor, and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mike was skilled technically and worked in Central and Western NY as a Service Tech specializing in refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing. He founded and was the President of RC 1 Heating and Associates. He also had an incredible 40 year career at Sysco of Syracuse. Mike formed deep friendships with his clients, many lasting a lifetime. His expertise in recommending the best restaurants around became one of his many charming qualities.

Mike was an active volunteer, dedicating much of his time to Francis House, Marcellus Youth Soccer, the American Red Cross, the VA Medical Center as a Driver, St. Francis Xavier Church Finance and Buildings and Grounds Committees, PAWS of Central New York Therapy, and Meals on Wheels. His service to others and his commitment to his community made him a beloved figure in Marcellus and around Central New York.

He was married to the love of his life, Martha J. Lollis for 44 wonderful years, and they are now reunited. A skilled woodworker, Mike took pride in building an addition to their home, supporting others in their home projects, and creating handcrafted items for friends and family, each filled with love.

He is survived by his daughter Liz Irving, son-in-law Matt Irving, his grandsons, Oliver and Jack from Connecticut, who brought him immense joy and his best friend, his golden retriever Booker. He also leaves behind his sisters Nancy Light (Bruce) of Elbridge, NY, Lynda Malbon (Charlie) of Virginia Beach, Va, and Marybeth Lollis Barnell (Dale) of Marcellus, NY, and brother-in-law Rick Reinhard (Idgla) of Rockville, MD, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to his caregivers for their compassion and support and for allowing Mike to be at peace at home. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 23rd at 11:00am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 1 W Main Street, Marcellus, NY and the Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Marcellus Free Library, 32 Maple Street, Marcellus, NY 13108, which was dear to his heart.

Mike touched countless lives with his kindness, humor, and generosity. His legacy of love and service will be remembered by all who knew him.
