Obituary of Mary Ellen Drabot
Mary Ellen Drabot, of Marcellus, passed away peacefully at St. Camillus on July 29, 2024.
Born in Syracuse, she was a proud 1949 graduate of St. Anthony of Padua School. After high school, Mary Ellen began a 43-year career at the New York Telephone Company, where she was a supervisor in the accounting investigations department.
In the late '50s, she joined Tuscarora Golf Club, where she met her future husband, Stanley Drabot, who was immediately captivated by her charm. Thus began a life together full of love and family. And golf. They settled in Marcellus with their daughter, Mary Elizabeth, in 1971.
Mary Ellen had a strong sense of fashion, of humor, and of fun. She could be feisty and always stood up for what she thought was right. People were drawn to her bright presence, and she maintained life-long friendships from every chapter of her life. Mary Ellen will be remembered most for her generous spirit, her strength, and the support and encouragement she offered over the years to the many family members and friends she so dearly loved.
Mary Ellen was predeceased by parents Michael and Catherine Tiby; beloved husband Stanley; brother John Tiby; sister Roseann Shanahan, and dear companion, Joseph Janiak.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Elizabeth Drabot; sister Catherine Tiby Pellikka; many nieces and nephews, as well as Joe's family.
Her daughter would like to thank the staff at St. Camillus for the kind and loving care they gave to Mary Ellen in the last year of her life.
