Obituary of M. Colleen Shetland
M. Colleen Shetland, age 78, of Marcellus, NY passed into the arms of Jesus, June 16, 2024.
Colleen was born June 30, 1945 to Marshall and Hazel Merryman. Her MA in speech started her early career as college speech teacher. A growing interest in linguistics led her into marriage to David Shetland in 1976, which in turn led to three children, which shifted her academic interests to early childhood education. Colleen had been employed as a teacher and an editor of both text documents and music scores. She is remembered lovingly by many with whom she had collaborated as educator, editor, church musician, and friend.
She loved non-fiction books, especially the Bible, and gentle music performed live.
Colleen is survived by her husband David and their three children, Jeremy, Caleb, and Abigail, and two grandchildren, Philip and Lucy.
A memorial service will be Saturday, July 6, 11am, at Trinity Fellowship, 1235 Old Stonehouse Road, Jamesville, NY 13078.
