Obituary of "Bobby" King
John Robert King II, 74, of Marietta, let go of his fight with cancer. He was born on January 18, 1950 to the late John Robert King I and Jane King. He lived his whole life in Marcellus, graduating from Marcellus High School in 1968, where he met the love of his life Gina (Sears) King.
Bobby, as he was known to his friends, was a US Army Veteran, having served with the 9th Division in Vietnam. After coming home, Bob held various jobs before becoming a CDL Truck Driver delivering mostly gasoline. He worked for and retired from Superior Plus.
Bob was an amazing human being with boundless energy, who absolutely had to constantly be doing something. Also working on one project or another, he was never seen sitting around doing nothing. His four grandchildren were the biggest joy in his life and he enjoyed every minute he had with all of them.
Bob was a larger-than-life presence with a sarcastic humor. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Gina; daughter Jennifer (Ross) Valenti; son Matthew (Hana) King; four grandchildren, Carter and Holden Leonard, Henry and Sofie King; Sister Sue (Peter) DeDuck; brother Marty; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday, May 31, 2024 from 3 to 6pm, followed at 6pm by the Marcellus American Legion Ralph Share Post 297 member service and the US Army Funeral Honors, all held at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of Marcellus Park, PO Box 301, Marcellus, NY 13108.
