Obituary of Andrew Brian Casler
Andrew Brian Casler of Syracuse and formerly of Marcellus passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 3rd at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was two weeks from his 61st birthday. Brian was born and raised in Marcellus and was a 1980 graduate of Marcellus Central Schools. A man who remembered many obscure and random bits of information, he was always the winner at Trivial Pursuit.
Brian was a US Army Veteran, serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, a Mensa genius, and an elevator mechanic, retiring from IUEC Local 62. He was also an airline pilot and loved sailing and snorkeling. He would get on his bike to go for a ride and end up in Oswego. Brian loved animals and loved spending time with his family at any gathering, and his favorite meal was a full course turkey dinner. He was predeceased by his mother Nancy Puffet Casler.
Surviving Brian are his son Gary (Hannah) Fish; granddaughter Charliegh; his father Irving (Jo Anne) Casler; brothers Brad (Cindy) Casler and Bruce (Tess) Casler; nephews Chad and Connor; niece Caitlyn; his aunt; two uncles and many close cousins.
We will all miss Brian's interesting intellect, his sharp wit and his very hearty laugh, that was infectious. May he rest in peace.
Calling hours will be Thursday, August 10th from 4 to 6pm at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus and immediately following will be a Celebration-of-Life held at the Navarino Fire Department, 3276 Amber Road. Service and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of Marcellus Park, P.O. Box 301, Marcellus, NY 13108.
