Obituary of Donna M. Martin

Donna M. Martin passed away Wednesday, September 14th with family by her side. She was 67 years old.

Daughter of the late John "Jack" Hayes and Geraldine (McGrath) Hayes, Donna lived most of her life between Syracuse and Marcellus, finally settling in Fairmount. She graduated from West Genesee High School in 1974 and attended Auburn Community College. Donna retired in 2020 from WestRock in Camillus after 21 years.

Donna is predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Daniel J. Martin; and her brother, John "Pat" Hayes. She is survived by her loving son, Christopher Martin; her sister and best friend, Karen Hayes (Glen Schmidt); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. And of course, her beloved Australian Shepard, Cobie, who was always at her side.

Donna was proud of her work at WestRock and was forever grateful for the kindness and support she received from her coworkers. She also dedicated herself to teaching religious education class at St. Francis Xavier for several years, enjoying every minute of it.

Donna's friends and family will remember her for her incredible inner strength, faith in God, and her insistence of always putting the needs of others before her own.

Rest in peace Donna, you are loved and missed already.

Calling hours will be from 3 to 6pm Wednesday, September 21st at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the next morning, Thursday 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, One West Main Street, Marcellus. The Rite of Committal and burial will then follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
