Obituary of Darlene H. Kiser
Darlene H. "Mum, Grandmum" Kiser, 75, of the Marcellus area passed away peacefully Thursday, April 28, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Syracuse, NY to the late John and Jeannette (Eaton) O'Brien on April 11, 1947 continuing her Irish heritage in CNY.
Darlene was saved and lived out her salvation as a daily student of God's Word. She showed her belief and faithfulness to the Lord as she was greatly used by Him to bless others, especially during her various positions held within the Church. She served Howlett Hill Presbyterian Church, Grace Baptist Church, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Memphis. She was involved in the Marcellus PTA and Cub Scouts supporting both of her boys' childhood growth. Her passion was being an educator, mainly at the Onondaga Nation School after earning her Master's Degree through Cortland State College. Darlene could be seen at the local nursing homes around CNY heavily involved with, formerly, Sunshine Friends Inc. now named PAWS of CNY bringing joy with Spritz. She participated in teacher union meetings and voiced contract details, participated in academic fairs, Scouting events, hosted church gatherings and social events to praise in His name, spearheaded countless fundraisers for the various organizations, and improved quality of life as a mentor for youth. Her devoted life of service contributed to her happiness and everlasting soul.
Darlene walked through Marcellus Park, nearly every day up to two miles, soaking in the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape and sending beautiful pictures to family and friends as she enjoyed life. She lived to spend time with her grandchildren and watch them grow. When she heard a voice call for Grandmum there was always a joyful and sparkling smile. Darlene made many memories with family and friends from Hawai'i to Ireland with plenty of adventures.
She is survived by her two sons, Timothy J. (Danielle) Kiser and Brian J. Kiser; two sisters, April Schad and Bonnie (John) Kinney; four grandchildren, Lucas, Leah, Lowen and Lawton; several nieces and nephews.
