Obituary of Louis Alexander Budell

Louis A. Budell June 6, 2014 Louis Alexander Budell passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2014, after a recent illness. A longtime resident of Marcellus, NY, he was 85. Born in 1929, Lou grew up in Westfield, NJ and attended Stevens Institute of Technology, graduating with a degree in Engineering. He worked for General Electric for his entire career, primarily at GE's Liverpool, NY, facility, where he was involved in developing numerous satellite, submarine, and radar systems. Lou had a passion for the outdoors and achieved membership in the Adirondack 46ers having climbed each high peak in the range. He enjoyed collecting many things – from stamps to butterflies to minerals. Lou was a long-time member and officer of both the Gem and Mineral Society of Syracuse and the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies. He was an active member of his church and possessed a deep interest in spirituality. He also loved music and participated in several choral groups throughout his life. In retirement, Lou remained active with his many hobbies including travel, music, gardening, and reading. For many years, he volunteered his time helping with tax preparation in the community. Louis is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis; sons William of Houston, TX; Robert and wife Ulrike of Hamburg, Germany; Timothy and wife Della of Westford, VT; David and wife Lisa of Sammamish, WA; daughter Barbara Darpino and husband Louie of Grand Island, NY; and four grandchildren, Robin, Justin, Anthony and Joseph. Louis was predeceased by his younger sister Margery Ross; two nieces and a nephew. A service in remembrance of Louis' life will be 2:00pm Wednesday, June 11th in the Marcellus First Presbyterian Church, 1 E. Main Street, Marcellus. The family will receive friends after the service in Shinaman Hall. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Marcellus Ecumenical Food Pantry, P. O.
