Obituary of Geraldine L. Joyce

Geraldine (Gerry) Clara LaGoy Joyce, 97, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 7, 2019 at Francis House. She was born in Merrillsville, NY on July 14,1921. Gerry and her brother were raised by her grandparents in Bloomingdale, NY. During WW II she worked at the American Can Company in Geneva, NY. Gerry went on to raise 4 children in Marcellus and was employed in various positions including the Marcellus Clerk's Office, Red & White Grocery Store, Onondaga County, and her most beloved position was caring for children at the Presbyterian Day Care Center. She was active in the Little Theater Program, Home Bureau, President of St. Francis Altar Rosary Society and volunteered at the Marcellus Library and Francis House. Gerry was pre-deceased by her son, Edward (Ned) Joyce and is survived by three daughters; Nancy Joyce of Utica, Jeanne Quinn (James) of Oakland, Ca, and Susan Amina (Edward) of Waipahu, Hi. She has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be at Ryan Funeral Home, Marcellus on Wednesday, May 8 from 2-4 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Church, Marcellus on May 9 at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
