Obituary of Jane C. Amidon
Jane C. Amidon, 88, of Marcellus, NY passed away peacefully Monday morning following complications from pneumonia. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Martha Tepperberg (Jim) of Durham, NC, Carrie Redzikowski (Robert) of North Charleston, SC, and Betsy Gallimore (Mark) of Advance, NC, along with 7 loving grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Amidon, and her brothers Jack Cummings and Duane "Pete" Cummings.
Jane was a lifelong Marcellian, graduating from Marcellus High School and Syracuse University. As an active member of Marcellus First Presbyterian Church, she served the church in many ways, including floral arranger for more than 30 years, Sunday school teacher, and a deacon. She was an avid lover of nature and was a member of the Marcellus Garden Club, served on the Marcellus Environmental Commission, and most recently volunteered at Baltimore Woods Nature Center.
Jane's love of her children was shown by her service as a Girl Scout leader as well as a Marcellus Community Council member, which supported children's summer recreation programs. Both she and Bob had a longtime interest in literature and were members of the Friends of the Library and served on the Marcellus Library Board.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Marcellus First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, February 27 from 5-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Thursday, February 28 at 1pm.
