Obituary of Leda M. Stopyro
Leda M. Stopyro, 99, of Marcellus passed away November 10, 2017 with family by her side. Born in Syracuse, Leda lived many years in Navarino before moving to Marcellus in 1937. She was in the first graduating class of Onondaga Central School, graduating in 1936. From 1959 to 2005 she was the bookkeeper in the family business, John P. Stopyro & Son Welding Service. Leda was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, Marcellus. She was a volunteer and member of the Marcellus Historical Society and enjoyed quilting. Leda was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, John P. Stopyro Sr. in the year 2001.
Surviving are her children Patricia (Charles) Sanborn of Westvale, John P. (Faith) Stopyro Jr. of Marietta and Kathy (Robert) Whitehead of Marcellus; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Frieda Stopyro of Marcellus; brother-in-law Donald Stopyro of Texas; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7pm Tuesday, November 14 at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the next morning, 9am Wednesday in St. Francis Xavier Church, One West Main Street, Marcellus. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
