Obituary of William J. Dwyer

William Joseph Dwyer, 85, of Onondaga, passed away April 25, 2017. Son of the late Patrick J and Elinore Dwyer, and husband of the late Mildred Dwyer (d. April 2, 2017). William is survived by sons Daniel of Rochester, William (Kate) of Atlanta, GA; daughters Jennifer McIntosh (Don) of Lakewood, CO, and Amy Hunger (Lyle) of Washington D.C., along with grandchildren Will and Madison. William is also survived by sisters Mary Flasphaler and Maureen Dwyer of Elmira, NY. William was born and raised in Elmira, NY where he graduated from Elmira Free Academy and worked at his father's drugstore. He also served two years in the local Naval Reserve unit. He graduated from the Albany College of Pharmacy in 1960. He was a Pharmacist and co-owned Hahn's Pharmacy in Skaneateles, NY. He later owned and operated the Village Teasel retail store while continuing his work as a Pharmacist most recently at Kinney Drugs in Skaneateles. William eventually retired and in later years became the primary care provider for his wife, Mildred. William was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and also a communicant of The Church of St. Michael and St. Peter. He will be fondly remembered by his family, friends and loyal pharmacy customers. In addition to his parents and wife, William was predeceased by his sister Patricia; brothers Patrick (known as Jay), John (known as Mike) and Joseph; and brother in-law Gordon Flasphaler. A Joint Memorial Service for William and Mildred Dwyer will be held in their memory on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 5:30pm in the Park Central Presbyterian Church, at 504 E. Fayette St, Syracuse, NY 13202.
